Arrows takes sweet revenge on Minerva in I League

Bhubaneswar : Home team Indian Arrows took a sweet revenge against defending champion Minerva Punjab FC by scripting a 2-1 win in the league round match of the 12th Hero I League at Kalinga Stadium here on Tuesday. In their previous encounter Minerva edged out Arrows by 1-0 goal at Chandigarh.

Minerva gone down to Arrows in their home away match here and remain winless for more than two months as they last won a match on December 4, 2018 against East Bengal. Arrows gathered 16 points from 16 matches and placed seventh in the point table by overtaking Aizawl FC and Minerva.

Rohit Danu who was replaced Suresh Singh for the today's match proved to be fruitful for Indian Arrows, as he opened the account for the team in the 38th minutes with a brilliant header.

It all happened when Arrows midfielder Amarjit Singh Kiyam's a thunderous freekick strike that rattled the cross bar but Danu was got the rebound near the six-yard area to score for the team.

Arrows coach Floyd Pinto has made three changes to the side that lost 3-2 against NEROCA. Narendra, Khumanthem Ninthoinganba Meetei and Suresh Singh had been replaced by Rahul KP, Anwar Ali, and Rohit Danu.

Defending champion Minerva Punjab who were not in good of its time also made three alterations Mahmoud Al Amna starts along with Akash Sangwan and Akashdeep Singh by replacing Saurav Rautella, Dilli Ram Sanyasi and Arashpreet Singh.

After the change of sides, the home team double the lead in the 47 minutes through a goal by froward Rahim Ali and adjudged as the man of the match. Indians had gone ahead on a couple of occasions previously in the tournament, but had failed to defend the lead. With a strong determination the young Indian Arrows kept their lead till the end.

Two goals down Minerva was consolidated their attack from both the wings. Spanish midfielder Juan Quero Barraso put the ball in to the right wing for Moinuddin who made no mistake to cross pass Indian Arrows goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Singh in the 68th minute. .
