Sportslogon Team February 7th 2019

Bhubaneswar : One of the strong title favorite Chennai City FC, who edged out almost all the teams in this season expect the Real Kashmir in the 12th Hero I League, Chennai is eyeing for a victory against home side young Indian Arrows at Kalinga Stadium on Friday, in a bid to regain the top pole position.

Chennai placed in the second place with 30 points after 14 matches, while debutant Real Kashmir FC is in the top with 32 points after playing 16 matches.

In the first game between the two, on the opening day of the league, Chennai had pummeled the Arrows 4-1, courtesy Spanish sniper Pedro Manzi’s first hattrick of the season.

The Arrows have creditably bounced back since that first game and today find themselves in a respectable seventh position on the table with 16 points from as many games. They have also notched up a best-ever record of five wins in the process, to go with 10 losses and a draw.

Motivated young Arrows as they registered two wins in the last five games including one over champions Minerva Punjab in their previous encounter here and three fighting losses to tough sides coach Pinto was understandably cautious, yet optimistic in the pre-game presser saying, "The focus is on recovery and on minor tweaks to our system as far as Chennai City is concerned. Everybody can see where Chennai city is on the table, but if you look at Indian Arrows, there is a big difference from what we were then, and what we are now. We might have to face a similar situation where we have to deep dig to stop them from scoring, but we have to be confident that we can cause damage to them as much as they can do to us.”

Akbar Nawas said on match day eve, “One defeat did not define the season that chapter is over but we are looking forward to another positive one. Indian Arrows is the main concern for us now. We have to give credit to the young team of Indian Arrows. They are young, fast and fit also have a advantage on Friday as they have nothing to lose, which is more dangerous for us. Our team’s moral is good. We have to look forward to give our best in every match."

In last two season Chennai was placed in the 8th place, but they are looking comfortable in their quest for a maiden national league champion’s title this year.

Akbar expressed, We do not look the point table, we are more concern about the Arrows now as they are improving day by day. Our team is putting equal importance to training on and off the ground. We made a meticulous planning to improve the intelligence of players to play football.Apart from the overseas players the local player like Romario Jesuraj, Edwin Vanspaul, and others capable enough to change the situation in any point of time. .
