Juvenile bags Rameswar Cup cricket titles

Bhubaneswar : In a nail biting final match, An unbeaten 108-ball 121 run by Anil Parida powered Juvenile Club to emerge champion of the 3rd HIL Rameswar Cup U-19 Cricket Tournament, defeating defending champion Rameswar Sporting by two wickets at B N High School Ground here on Sunday.

Batting first host Rameswar scored a healthy 220 for 8 in 20 overs with Prakash Kumar Barik smashed 49-balls 62 run.

In reply, Rameswar bowlers made pick up wickets in regular intervals, but Anil Parida stood rock solid till the end with 121 runs to ensure Juvenile to reach the winning target for the loss of eight wickets in 39.4 overs. With his stupendous innings Anil was bagged the man of the final and man of the series.

Similarly, Binit Mohanty, Tofan Gouda, Krushna Chandra Barik and Prakash Kumar Barik were received the best batsman, bowler, wicket keeper and best sixes awards respectively.

The champion team received a cash award of Rs 15,000, while runner up team took home Rs 10,000.

On the closing ceremony Rameswar Club’s State players Rajesh Mohanty, Biswajit Bhuyan, Biswajit Mallick, Ashutosh Sahoo and Saransh Kumar were felicitated.

Ekamra MLA Ashok Chandra Panda gave away the prizes in presence of Club President Suresh Kumar Routray, Bhubaneswar Athletic Association secretary S R Parija, former Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena, Odisha Cricket Association CEO Bidyut Kumar Nayak, Arup Pattanaik and Deepak Mangaraj.

Brief score: Rameswar Sporting 220/8 in 40overs ( Prakash Kumar Barik 62, Manitej Mohanty 35; Pankaj Senapati 2/32) lost to Juvenile Club 222/8 in 39.4ovrs (Anil Parida 121 n.o;Javed Khan 26; Tofan Gouda 4/27, Prakash Kumar Barik 3/44) by 2 wickets. .
