Mauro adjudged as the hero of the match award.

BFC coach Carles Cuadrat named an unchanged side from their ISL final victory over FC Goa. In other hand Chennai coach Akbar Nawas makes one change; Sriram B come in midfield in place of Charles Lourdusamy from the Round of 16 game.

Chennia midfielder Edwin Sydney's through pass was collected by Sandro in second attempt inside the D area and his shot gone off the farpost, it was the first scoring chance for Chennai in the 13th minute.

While BFC's dependable defender Rahul Bheke was made a blunder just outside of the D area and Chennai midfielder Nestor Jesus made no mistake to open the account for the team in the 15th minute.

Desperate BFC created several scoring opportunities but could not able to scored the equaliser. It seems that the Chennai City defenders made magnificent home work to quit the unstoppable quality attack of Bengaluru FC trios Sunil Chhetri, Udanta Singh and Nicolas Fedor in the first half.

After the change of sides, BFC changed their gear to level the score, while Sunil Chhetri was pulled down inside the box by Chennai midfielder Alexander Jesuraj and referee awarded a penalty kick in favour of BFC. It's skipper Chhetri took the spot kick in the 52nd minute, what a save by Chennai goalkeeper Mauro Boerchio to demoralise BFC and Youth the score board read as 1-0 in favour of Chennai.

In a counter attack, Chennai midfielder Jesuraj gave a long arial pass to captain Pedro Javier , who scored 25th goal of the season to gave 2-0 lead to team in the 55th minute.

BFC never stop their attack on Chennai, at least Chhetri scored a solitary goal in the 65th minute with a brilliant header from the corner kick supplied by Dimas Morgado. Unlucky BFC got number of scoring chances but today was not the day for them.

It's was the clash of the champions. Indian Super League (ISL) winners Bengaluru got a walkover in the Round of 16 owing to Mohun Bagan's no-show. I-League winners Chennai City beat FC Pune City 4-2 to book their place in the final eight of the competition.

We are superior to them in almost all aspect, we also got enough scoring chances in the match, but we made some mistake today. This was the second time we suffered defeat from them, said BFC coach Carles Cuadrat.

Everybody knows that football is a team game, but our goalkeeper Mauro Boerchio saved us today. Our players had believe in their mentality and stick to basic to over come the India’s best team here, said Chennai coach Akbar Nawas .
