Local boy Rakesh leads in Kesabananda Chess

Bhubaneswar : Local favorite boy Rakesh Kumar Nayak defeated Sounak Dey of West Bengal and Subash Mathivanan of Tamil Nadu in the third and fourth round, Jena gathered four points and shared the top berth along with ten others in the 6th Keshabananda Memorial All India Fide Open Rating Chess Tournament-2017 here on Thursday.
Similarly, another local boy Binayak Rath edged out Krishna M K Ramanatha of Andhra Pradesh and Surendran N of Tamil Nadu and scored four points.
While eight players were in the second place with 3.5 points each and 44 players with three points in 3rd spot. Remaining all top boards are with the hands of seeded players.
The major upsets of the day are GM Saptarishi Roy Chowdhry has been forced to share point with Goan player Audi Ameya, similarly in third board AL Muthaiah from Tamil Nadu pulled his half point by drawing with Soham Das of West Bengal. .
