Chakravarthi, Bharath share top place in Kesabananda Chess

Bhubaneswar : 10 years boy Bharath Subramaniyam H of Tamilnadu shocked IM Anup Deshmukh and secured joint lead with IM Chakravarthi Reddy M by gathering six points each by the end of sixth round in the 6th Keshabananda Das All India OPEN Fide Rating Chess Tournament-2017 here on Friday.

Unbeaten Chakravarthi defeated Dahale Atul of Maharastra and Arun J of Tamil Nadu in the fifth and sixth rounds. Similarly, Bharath edged out Swaraj Palit of Jharkhand and IM Deshmukh Anup of LIC. In the top board in the seventh round on Saturday, Chakravarthi will face Bharath.

In the 3rd board IM Suvrajit Saha drew with GM Saptarshi Roy Chowdhury and in 7th board, Rabindra Kumar Ojha of Odisha made an upset by defeating higher rated player of same state FM Rakesh Kumar Jena and caused upset of the day.

After completion of 6th Round so many players are fighting for the championship. Two players are jointly holding the 1st position with six points each followed by 17 players with five points each and 16 players with 4.5 points each. .
