Six teams reach for Federation Cup

Bhubaneswar : The soccer fans of the twin-city are gearing up for the upcoming Federation Cup schedule to begin at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on May 7.

Bangalore FC, Churchill Brothers and Shillong Lajong on Friday reached here. Altogether six top rated clubs of the country were arrived here.

I am excited to share the ground with Trinidad and Tabago striker Cornell Glen in the federation Cup. He is having lots of potential to change the game in any point. His presence in the squad will be important as we look to put out good performances in Cuttack, said Sunil Chhetri.

The 35-year-old Glen, who has represented his country on 71 occasions, scoring 24 goals. Glen has previously turned up for Shillong Lajong in the I-League, scoring 30 goals in 38 appearances for the Northeast outfit before loan moves to ISL side North East United and Mohun Bagan.

I am extremely happy that Indian National Team have been ranked among the top 100 teams in FIFA ranking. The future of the sports is growing rapidly in our Country, so we will put our effort to improve our ranking, added Chhetri.

After the I-league we have to prove that we are a better club in India, We will plan on match to match basis, recently our players are traveling a lot and playing matches in different climatic condition, as soon as they will adjust themself in this hot and humidity weather that will good for the team, said Churchill Brothers coach Alfa Farnandis. .
