Chennai script solitary win in Federation Cup

Bhubaneswar : Chennai FC who were already out of the tournament after losing the first two games, wth the win in the last match against Churchill by 3-1 goals and also closed the door for Churchill to progress to the knockout stage of the Federation Cup at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Thursday.
,br> Chennai mid-fielder Dhanpal Ganesh was registered his name on the score-sheet as the 22-year-old single handedly took the ball forward and get passed all the Churchill defensive forces and eventually beat the goalkeeper Naveen Kumar too and Chennai scripted a early lead in the 18th minute.

Midfielder Edwin Vanspaul had doubled Chennai City's lead in the 61st minute. Edwin does well to cut past the defenders and then turn to shoot at the goal.

Chennai City had sealed their victory in the 79th minute. It was Dhanpal Ganesh shoots at the goal and Churchill Brothers goalkeeper does well to punch away the danger but the ball rebounds and Chennai forward Charles de Souza was rushed forward and post the ball into the net and score card read as 3-0.

Chennai defeander Joseph Clemente brought down Churchill’s forward Brandon Fernandes inside the box which leads to the penalty kick for Churchill. It was Brandon who steps up for it and found the back of the net to register a consolation goal for his side in the 81st minute. .
