Last minute goal of Samuel beat DSK in Federation Cup

Bhubaneswar : A goal at injury time of the final half by Samuel Lalmuanpuia sealed a victory for the Shillong Lajong aganist DSK Shivajians in the Group-B league match at Federation Cup at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Friday.

A ten men Shillong Lajong side got the better of DSK Shivajians in a 3-2 result, thanks to Samuel Lalmuanpuia's goal in the 92nd minute. After the barren first half, Shillong Lajong’s forward Alen Deory broke the deadlock in the 49th minute. The young guns of Shillong made a mockery of DSK Shivajians' defensive line as the final ball was netted into the post.

DSK Shivajians forwardn Holicharan Narzary leveled the score in 64th minute, Holicharan perfectly connected the ball fed to him inside the box. He keept it low, took his time to made space for himself to beat the Shillong goalkeeper Vishal Kaith.

As time was running out, Shillong Lajong bounced back. With midfielder Redeem Tiang gave a long waited 2-1 lead to Shillong in the 68th minute. DSK striker Holicharan Narzary came out of nowhere to net in a screamer to script his second individual goal and once again leveled the score 2-2 in the 86th minute.

It was a good outing, though we could not go fourther in the tournament, but the players were put a good football in a extreme condition against tough teams. I am happy that today we are in top eight clubs of the country, said DSK Shivajians coach Dave Rogers.

This was the a big tournament of the country, every team was played three matches in a duration of days. It could have better if the teams could get few more rest days in between league matches. It will be better for the players, said Shillong Lajong coach Thangboi Singto. .
