Bhubaneswar : It was a good warm up gold medal for me before the Asian Athletic Championship, going to held at Kalinga Std ium in my home town in the month of July, said ace sprinter Amiya Kumar Mallick on his arrival here on Friday. He won a gold medal in the 100 meter by clocking 10.62 seconds in the second leg of Indian Grand Prix held at Delhi on Thursday.

This year the three Indian Grand Prix is not that competitive as already the Asian Grand Prix was over, but ever the official events are equal importance.

Take the example of javelin thrower Devender Singh got qualified for the upcoming IAAF World Championships- London to be held from 4-13 August, 2017 with a magnificent throw of 84.57m in the first leg of Indian Grand Prix held at Patiala, Amiya added

Odisha athlete Amiya Kumar Mallick who broke the national record in men’s 100m sprint by clocking 10.26 seconds in the semifinals of the 20th Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championships in 2016 won the gold medal with the timing of 10.62s. Safikul Mondal (10.72s) and Shalin (10.81s) grabbed the silver and bronze medal respectively.

I am not happy with the timing, but the correction is going on and i will put a better show in the 21st Federation Cup National Sr. Athletics Championships to be held at Delhi from June 1. I am concentrating for the Asian meet, Amiya said. .
