Dying minute save guides Bangaluru into Federation Cup final

Bhubaneswar : Last minute penalty kick saved by Bangaluru goalkeeper Amrinder Singh helped the team to barged into the final of the Federation Cup, defeating I-league champion Aizawl FC by 1-0 goal in the semifinal at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday.

A penalty in the dying moment of game was awarded to Aizawl, as Bengaluru defender Sandesh Jhingan who was brought down Aizawl forward Bayi Kamo Stephane inside the d area in the injury time. Amrinder saved the spot kick, was kicked by Lalram Chullova in the 90+8 minutes.

Bangaluru mid-fielder Chekiyot Kizhakkeveettil Vineeth send a cross inside the box which was received by their mid-fielder Alwyn George inside the d area however he was brought down by Aizawl mid-fielder Brandon Vanlalremdika. That lead to a penalty being gifted to the Bangaluru. Cameron Watson steps up for the penalty and made no mistake in finding the back of the net in the eighth minute.

A most conformed goal for Bangaluru, while Cameron Watson from a long ranger and this time it was spot on but unfortunately it hit the bar and came out in the 39th minute. The first half ended with 1-0 lead for Bangaluru.

Bangaluru coach Albert Roca did not want to stick to defencive plan, in his first change he was introduced Trinidad Tobago striker Cornell Glen in the 62nd minute in place of mid-fielder CK Vineeth. Further to intensify the attacking strategy , coach Roca included forward Kumam Udanta Singh in place of midfielder Eugeneson Lyngdoh as second change in the 76th minute, as the addition of the winger would add spark in the attack, especially in the counter-attack.

It was no doubt a tough game, we got a chance but missed it. Regarding the referee decision about penalty kick, it was not wise to complain each and every decision of referee or the climate always, said Aizawl coach Khalid Jamil.

We are looking forward our final encounter, we are confident enough to be a title contender. We will miss our star striker Sunil Chettri in the final. We do not have any choice, we will play the final with the available resources, said Bangaluru FC coach Alberto Roca. .
