Mohun Bagan to face Bangaluru in Federation Cup final

Bhubaneswar : Defending champion Mohun Bagan will cross swords with Bangaluru FC in the title clash of the Federation Cup at Barabati Stadium on May 21.

Mohun Bagan forward Darryl Duffy opened the account for the team in the 35th minute. The mid-fielder Sony Norde who was always guarded by two of East Bengal defender, cleverly he put the ball into the scoring zone from the left wing, the cute header by Duffy guided the ball into the post, it was too late for East Bengal goalkeeper Subhasish Roy Chowdhury .

East Bengal forward Wills Deon Plaze just could not gather the low ball in-front of the goal post which was pussed by mid fielder Md Rafique in the early eighth minute of the play, he sent it wide of the open post.

Magnificent scissor kick by Mohun Bagan striker Balwant Singh sealed the road for East Bengal in the 84th minute. Mohun Bagan skipper Katsumi Yusa as he reached near the by-line, send it back in and the former Churchill striker Balwant Singh displayed fine poaching skills to found the back of the net.

I dedicate my man of the match award to my mother and fans who were came long we from Kolkata to cheer us, said Mohun Bagan goalkeeper Debjit Majumder.

We dominated the match but lost it to a better opponent. Though we created lot of chances but football is all about scoring goal, so the result was not in our support, said East Bengal assistant coach Ranjan Chowdhury.

All wrong thing was gone to vain as we own the match. After scripting the lead we maintain our cool and stay focused when East Bengal were generated their counter attack. In the I-league we were runner up, so this time the players are in their toes to grab the champion trophy, said Mohun Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen .
