KISS lift National Club Rugby trophy

Bhubaneswar : Local favorite KISS emerged champion of the girls category of the All India Rugby 7’s Under-17 Club National Championship, winning over Saraswatipu of Siliguri by 12-7 at Hi-tech Medical College Ground here on Saturday.

The boys title grabbed by Jungle Crow of Kolkata by eliminating Future Hope of Kolkataby 17-7. Jharkhand girls and Saraswatipur boys finished third in their respective category.

Earlier in the boys semifinals, Future Hope and Jungle Crow edged out Saraswatpur and KISS by 22 - 7 and 27-7 respectively.

Similarly, in girls semifinals, KISS and Saraswatipur pipped Jharkhand and Delhi Hurricanes by 22-0 and 24-5 respectively.

Altogether 30 boys and 21 girls teams from 15 States were participated in the three-day league cum knock-out format tournament. In the last edition total 30 teams were participated.

Hi-tech Medical College Chairman Tirupati Panigrahi, CEO Dr Bisma Ratha, Sports and Culture director Dr Prem Ranjan Ojha, ORFA president MLA Priyadarsi Mishra, Secretary Upendra Kumar Mohanty and Ashok Mohanty were present in the closing ceremony. .
