Satirtha win Veteran Tennis tourney titles

Bhubaneswar : Former Odisha state champion Satirtha Patnaik cornered glory by bagging a double crown in the All India Veteran Tennis Tournament, which was jointly organised by Chhattisgarh State Tennis Association and Chhattisgarh Sports & Youth Welfare Department, under the auspices of All India Tennis Association at VIP Club in Raipur from September 4 to 8, 2017.

A dentist by profession, Patnaik won the 35+ men’s singles title, defeating Delhi-based Odia opponent Dillip Mohanty 6-3, 6-1 in the final. He completed the double, pocketing the doubles title with Dillip Mohanty as his partner. They won the final, demolishing Chhattisgarh pair of Jatin Kumar Nelson and Kohinoor Gowardhan 6-1, 6-1.

Chhattisgarh Sports Minister handed over the trophies in the closing function. Patnaik was also awarded with the Presidents Trophy for being the most outstanding performer of the tournament. .
