191 participates in State U-11 Chess

Bhubaneswar : Altogether 191 players including 68 girls are taking part in the three-day State U-11 Open and Girls Chess Championship at Ravenshaw University Convention Centre at Cuttack on Monday.

Top seeded Manish Kumar gathered two points by the end of second round in the inaugural day and shared the top place along with 29 others. Similarly, 14 girls jointly placed in the top with two pints each. Total 23 boys and 13 girls rated players are in the title race.

The three-day seven round tournament is being organised by SR Chess Centre under the aegis of Cuttack District Chess Association. The top two player of each group will represent the state in the forthcoming National U-11 Chess Championship to be held at Pune in Maharashtra from November 22 to 30.

SR Chess Centre chief adviser Asit Mukharjee was inaugurated the meet in presence of former State junior champion Soumya Darshan Nayak, AOCA vice-president Ranjan Mohanty and Anjun Kumar Khuntia. .
